M+L FOREVER CONTEST AND BLOG TOUR

Good morning everybody! We're kicking off a blog tour and contest to celebrate CAYMAN SUMMER and reminisce together about Michael and Leesie's journey. The first stop is an interview with Michael, Leesie and me at Bee's beautiful blog, DREAMCATCHER's LAIR. Go check it out. It's really fun. And you'll get to read Michael's very first words on paper--the free write that became TAKEN BY STORM!

Here's your formal invitation to M+L FOREVER Tour and Contest. The blog tour calendar is still a work in progress--like everything in my writing life right now--so if you'd like to join, just let me know. We'll be debuting new trailers this week, and I'll be posting background pictures from Michael and Leesie's journey from their first conversation to CAYMAN SUMMER's epilogue. All your questions and comments are always welcome!

The first 30 people to enter will receive an organza drawstring bag full of Michael and Leesie M&Ms. Coolest swag ever, right?
Aren't they cute? These were the favors at my son's recent wedding, and I decided I had to get them for Michael and Leesie, too. Colors will be different. I'll post a picture of the actual M&Ms with Michael and Leesie's faces on them as soon as I get them.

I'll also be giving away 3 complete sets of TAKEN BY STORM, UNBROKEN CONNECTION, and CAYMAN SUMMER!

One signed first edition hardcover of TAKEN BY STORM

And 5 copies EACH of TAKEN BY STORM, UNBROKEN CONNECTION, and CAYMAN SUMMER in paperback!!

All you have to do to enter is make a comment below. If you FaceBook, tweet, blog, Goodreads comment, tell a friend or a bookclub, about the contest, you will get an extra entry for each place you promote the contest. Bloggers who host me on their blogs as part of the tour will receive 5 extra entries. More opportunities for extra entries will arise over the course of the tour.

Adam's Hope!

Four-year-old Adam McCain has Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. His big sisters are budding writers. Hope, just twelve-years-old, maintains a FaceBook page and blog devoted to Adam's progress--called "Adam's Hope."

I am honored to join Hope and the McCain family Thursday, 06/02/11, 2-4 p.m., for a tween/teen writing workshop sponsored by WRITERS UNITE TO FIGHT CANCER. I get to lead fun writing exercises with JANETTE RALLISON and LISA FINDER. And there's a rumor in the air a few AZ Rattlers might stop by to surprise Adam.

The workshop will be at A+ Book Fairs warehouse in Gilbert, Arizona--45 East Sunway Drive (map). It's free, but you can donate to Adam's medical expense fund. A portion of all books sold at the event will benefit Adam's fund. Please spread the word and bring your friends. This will be a fun event for young writers in the greater Phoenix area.

If you can't attend the event, but would still like to contribute to Adam's fund--just click through to his fund at Give Forward Foundation.

Here's Adam and Hope.

GREAT STRIDES Report

Thursday and Friday in Salt Lake were cold and rainy, but the sun came out Saturday morning for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation's Great Strides walk. It touched me to see families with little children who suffer from CF walking together. We were excited to be a part of it. If you'd like to donate to our effort, it's not too late. You can donate to our SING ME TO SLEEP team through the end of June. Check out the pictures. It was such a nice day.

Next week (after I get home from my son's wedding!!!), I'm participating in an event sponsored by Writers Unite to Fight Cancer. I'm honored to be a part of it. It's June 2nd in Gilbert, AZ at the A+ Bookfairs Warehouse. I'll post more details next week. I'm getting on a plane again in the morning, but I wanted to mention this for those of you in the Phoenix area.

Listening to a lovely welcome with the crowd of eager walkers

Sunshine and blue skies. No rain!

My son and his fiance who walked with me!

There were signs like this about CF all along with 3 mile route through downtown Salt Lake.

Kay and I on a popsicle break.

GREAT STRIDES

This weekend I'm taking time-out from Michael and Leesie to remember Matt, who inspired SING ME TO SLEEP. I'm walking in Salt Lake's GREAT STRIDES held Saturday at the Galvin Center. We've formed a tiny SING ME TO SLEEP readers team. I know many of you will be with us in spirit.

If you'd like to support the team with a donation, please click through to CFF's website. If you get a "find a walker" screen, simply enter my name and you should be directed to my page. THANK YOU!!

I'll have pictures to share this weekend when I get home.

Radio Interview!!

I didn't want you all to miss this. I taped my first internet radio interview and bragged up how great you all are. Take a listen. I'm the first interview. What do you think? Should I do more?

Law of Distraction and Interruption Radio Interview

I'm brainstorming ideas for the big Michael/Leesie celebration contest and blog tour coming in June. I'd love to get your ideas to add to the mix.

YOU CAN BUY IT NOW!!! CELEBRATE WITH ME!!!

Look what I got in the mail. These are the proofs for CAYMAN SUMMER! We made a tiny format change, resubmitted the files, and I clicked the okay button last night. That means, yes, you can ORDER it NOW!!! The link takes you to my CAYMAN SUMMER CreateSpace store--it's part of Amazon, so anywhere you can order from Amazon, you can place an order here. CAYMAN SUMMER should be available on Amazon's general site in the next few days.

We also corrected and resized UNBROKEN CONNECTION. The new edition looks great. The first was one was huge experiment, and we decided to make it smaller--closer to TAKEN BY STORM's paperback size. All three books look great together now.

If you don't already have a copy of UNBROKEN CONNECTION, you can order the new and improved edition now, too.

Oh, and I wanted to share the back cover copy with you guys. I only used blurbs from my loyal blog readers. I wish I could have put a quote from each one of you on the back. There wasn't room for that, but I got a lot of you!  Here's what it says:

Journey with Michael and Leesie to Grand Cayman Island. Time, sunshine, and Michael’s devotion heal Leesie’s physical pain, but grief and guilt haunt her. Michael will do anything to find the old Leesie who prayed, spoke of visions, and kept the rules. For Leesie, that girl is lost forever. Rules? What’s the point? She’s ready to break every one.

“An honest, original, emotional roller-coaster ride of a tale that is oh-so-beautiful.” Bee at Dreamcatcher’s Lair

“This story is about two souls who love each other deeply and how far they will fight and grow for their forever.” Michelle at Windowpane Memoirs

“Awesome, amazing. Did I mention that I loved it?” Chaleese

“Unique and brave . . . I won’t ever forget or compare it to any other.” Jenna

“The ending is perfect. I LOVE it.” Myrrhaya

“Perfect reads for teens (and their moms—like me).” Anonymous

“It’s beautiful! I love it. . . . I want more!” Brandi at  Blkosiner’s Book Blog

“I wish it could go on forever.” Nora

“I love, love it!” Gayle

I want to put together a blog tour for CAYMAN SUMMER starting in June. Let me know if you want to be involved. Thanks all of you for your support and patience--and loving Michael and Leesie enough to hang in there for the entire journey. Happy Easter!

CAYMAN SUMMER IS DONE!!

I'm back with great news. CAYMAN SUMMER is done--at least my final revision. My son is getting the design process underway, and we'll have books to send to all of you contest winners and for you to purchase by the first week in May--if all goes well.

I've posted the final revision on two pages--see them up at the top? That way if anyone drops in and just wants to read the book, it's easy to find.

Please, take a look. You guys are my editorial board. If you see anything from typos to continuity errors to stuff you thought I was going to change, drop me a comment or email. It's not too late to make changes. I worked hard to get everything right and had my Vermont College critique pal (Kathi Baron--whose novel, SHATTERED, you need to read!) edit through it for me, but that doesn't mean I caught everything. Give me your freshest, critical eyes, okay?

When I said I was going to hide away and finish the revision, I had no idea it would be for an entire month. I've missed you all. It's fantastic to be back. Stay tuned for more news. I'm not going away again--at least not for a whole month.
